A few whisper that it isn’t a thing at all, but some powerful magical force that offers unlimited power and wealth. You are on the quest to discover the truth behind the Green Flame, a quest that leads to far-off places shrouded in danger and mystery: dark forests, moldering citadels, and even derelict spaceships!
This multi-part solo campaign includes four linked adventure modules that can be played as part of the campaign or independently. Each module is set in a unique location and environment. There are two versions of the campaign adventure, 5e and Classic (which includes BX, Holmes, OSE, Swords & Wizardry, and 1e). Additionally, your character gains experience and advances in level as you move through the adventures (5e uses benchmark leveling but may opt for traditional experience point leveling, while the Classic version uses experience point progression).
Legacy of the Green Flame uses Pacesetter’s innovative SoloSystem for augmented solo game play; however, you still use the core rules of whichever RPG system you prefer (5e or Classic). Every creature, magic item, and new spell is full described (with full stat blocks in the Classic version). Did we mention there are dozens of new monsters, magic items, and spells? Well, there are. The SoloSystem provides added guidelines and rules to help move the game along while maximizing the solo game experience. These are generally items such as resting, wandering monsters, hirelings and henchmen, Adventure Points, etc. You also can map as you go! This is a unique facet that Pacesetter innovated way back in 2010.
Each of the adventures has multiple adventure paths and routes so you can play them many times and experience new adventure areas and results. But, lets get out of the mechanics and into the fun! Here are brief descriptions of each adventure:
Grave of the Green Flame
It was the oldest trick in the book. A man on a dark road asked for directions and you let your guard down. You awake in a nearby inn with a bruised skull and ego. All your possessions are gone, but your courage endures. Helped by the kindly and concerned innkeeper, you are equipped and the chase is on. The bandits fled into the forest, but you will have your vengeance.
Yet there is more to the old forest than some petty bandits. Somewhere inside lies the secret of the Green Flame. And secrets and myth abound. Beyond the Black Wall
Your hunt for the fabled Green Flame has led you deep into the wild. Guided by unreliable research and gut instinct you search for an ancient city that has been dead for centuries. Your only clue is that the city is guarded by a towering black wall. Somehow, you know the city must exist and that it surely harbors the Green Flame. Undaunted, you set yourself to face the horrors and dangers that lie within the decayed city beyond the black wall!
Ruins of the Red Moon
With a great deal of skill, and a bit of luck, you survived the ancient and terrifying horrors of the city beyond the black wall. While the Green Flame remains lost, you have learned much and dispelled several myths. Escaping the ancient city, you plunged deep into the towering mountains to continue your quest. Late fall has given way to a frigid winter. Snow and freezing temperatures threaten death by exposure. A blizzard is near and you must find shelter to survive the night. Entering yet another barren valley, a massive and strange structure blocks your path. It is the strangest building you have ever seen and it appears to made completely of metal. Somehow, you must gain entrance and shelter from the blizzard carries death on it wind.
Stair to the Sapphire Citadel
With the aid of the metal woman, Helena 3, you are back on the path to finding the Green Flame. Crashing into a forbidding mountain you find yourself in a massive cavern. A complete forest with towering trees is a strange sight, but you have seen things no one will ever believe. Opposite your entry, at the very limit of your vision, you see a wide stair leading out of the forest and up to a citadel flanked by two massive sapphire pillars. No other exit from the cavern is evident. But more to the point, you know the Sapphire Citadel holds some key to the location of the Green Flame. But for now, you must survive the trek through the forest and face the dangers lurking within.
